Current Trends/Issues In Cardiac Arrest
Details to come
Developing new and innovative methods to improve patient care and outcomes is exceedingly important—but it must be done through a scientific method that is valid and unbiased before advocating for widespread adoption in clinical practice. The concept of elevating the head and torso during CPR is certainly provocative and represents disruptive thinking that may potentially be important as we seek to improve outcomes from cardiac arrest. EMS physician oversight is crucial in interpreting and effectively implementing new interventions within our communities.

This lecture discusses a case Chad had where a young Amish girl was in a frozen pond for an extended period of time (at least 20 minutes I believe). The girl was taken by EMS to the local ED where they were going to pronounce her. When Chad showed up he pushed to continue working her until she was warm, and at that time got ROSC. The child made a full recovery and is neurologically intact.
A Case Study on PulsePoint. Jason was at PNC park when he received an alert on his phone for a PulsePoint activation in the park. Jason provided resuscitation while off duty, and the patient had a great outcome. He would like to present on the benefits of PulsePoint.
